Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Michigan has an immediate opening for a junior or mid-level faculty appointment. The division currently consists of 8 faculty members and 2 advanced practice providers. The division provides a full range of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients. The division provides inpatient care via the Pediatric Infectious Diseases consult service and the Pediatric Immunocompromised Hosts Infectious Diseases consult service. The division is closely aligned with the hospital system's Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention and Epidemiology programs. Division faculty are engaged in basic, translational, and clinical research. The division is committed to training fellows in our ACGME-accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program and actively contributes to the education of medical students and pediatric residents.
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical services, research, and education. C.S. Mott Children's Hospital is a 298-bed hospital that includes 48 private NICU rooms, 45 pediatric intensive care and cardiothoracic unit beds, 16 operating rooms, and two interventional radiology rooms. C.S. Mott Children's Hospital was the #1 children's hospital in Michigan and the only children's hospital in Michigan to be ranked in all 11 categories in the 2024-2025 U.S. News and World Report. The Department of Pediatrics ranked #13 with NIH funding of over $31 million in 2023. The department has a strong support system for researchers at all levels with a particular emphasis on training and mentoring junior faculty interested in academic pediatric careers. The department has an NIH K12-funded Children's Health Research Center Program to support promising junior faculty physician-scientists, hosts an intramural research grant award program and an annual Pediatric Research Symposium, and offers additional support through biostatistical consultants and partnership with the Children's Clinical Trials Support Unit.

Required Qualifications*
Successful candidates will have an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree and will be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, having completed formal Pediatric Infectious Diseases training at an accredited fellowship training program following a residency in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics. Scholarly activity in the form of an emerging or active research program and the intent to establish an extramurally funded research program is desired. This full-time position will provide clinical activity supporting the division's existing inpatient and outpatient clinical services and future community outreach programs. Excellence in clinical care of children with infectious diseases is expected.
