The CRISPR Lab at NCSU is seeking to hire a temporary 0.5 FTE position. The primary purpose of this role is to develop lab systems and protocols that enhance data management processes, analysis, and storage for large biological and OMIC datasets (primarily genomics and transcriptomic).
Primary Duties:

- Overhaul current lab data processes to ensure security, storage and accessibility, including cloud computing and university clusters.
- Provide support to the lab PI, staff, and students with their computational and bioinformatics needs.
- Develop research tools and pipelines for standardized CRISPR Lab workflows and analyses, and maintain GitHub, Docker, and lab web domains.
- Conduct bioinformatics research, including curating and mining in-house CRISPR lab datasets, with the goal of publication in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to grant submissions.

Minimum Experience/Education
- Masters in Bioinformatics, computer science, or related field, with documented ability to handle genomic and transcriptomic datasets.

- Proficient in developing and testing Python APIs
- Experience with R, Docker, and Linux systems
- Experience in creating, migrating, and managing relational databases
- Background in Statistical and Bioinformatic tools such as comparative genome analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with both IT experts and scientific technical experts
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Experience working with Prokaryotic and Metagenomic data sets
- Experience in grant and technical report writing
- Mentorship and teaching of software skills to bench scientists
- Graphic design skills
