The Nonwovens Institute has various projects and equipment which need to both be modified and constructed in our pilot facilities on NCSUs centennial campus. We are seeking an Electrician with Process Control skills for installation, commissioning and maintenance of various equipment. Daily tasks will be varied depending on the stage of lab/equipment. Work also includes coordinating the work efforts including the training of technicians who are providing technical assistance in solving problems with interacting systems.
Tasks are, but not limited to:
Provide direction and oversight for erection and assembly of metal framing and electrical equipment (i.e. raceways, bus boxes, disconnects, dropdowns) along with installation of electrical circuits, breakers, subpanels and switches.
Producing parts list, timeframe and budget for electrical/equipment projects, to possible include procurement of parts from local electrical store and staging of electrical/machine parts.
Troubleshooting of motor starting and electrical distribution systems though PLC.

Physical requirements and exposures:
Exposure to chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools and moving machinery.
Heavy lifting and carrying of 45lbs. for up to 6-8 hours per day, with a maximum lift of 75lbs.
Personal protective equipment required such as; protective eyewear, chemical suits, safety shoes and/or rubber footwear, gloves, hearing protection and a respirator.
Exposure to high levels of noise and to dust/gas/fumes/steam.
Exposure to extreme heat above 100F and mild cold down to 40F
Exposure to vibration or oscillating movements of the extremities or the whole body.
Occasional entry into confined spaces, requiring kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting.
Works at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders.
Walks on uneven ground.
Work is performed standing, walking, bending and twisting waist for 10 hours per day.
Frequent foot movements, reaching above and below shoulder height, bending and twists neck.
Frequent hand movements with simple grasping of one hand with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects.
Hearing acuity essential.
Color perception/discrimination, depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye.

Understanding and conformity with all safety requirements including, wearing PPE, such as: steel toed shoes, Z87 safety glasses, hard hats and safety vests.
15 Years in production plant maintenance or experience with contractor working in industrial installations and maintenance.
Base Electrical knowledge of the National Electrical Code, with emphasis on 3 phase power
Ability to use, read and interpret measure from measuring tools such as Voltmeters, tape measures, scales, levels, straight lasers and meters.
Required to remove, assess and install institutional electrical wiring, electrical services, retrofitting new light fixtures, adding & removing outlets & switches, and removing & supplying conduit runs where needed.
Reads and understands electrical blueprints.
Possesses knowledge of remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment.
Good understanding and knowledge of hand tools and hand held power tools.
Understands materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
Functions in at least one other trade and possesses general knowledge of all other trades. Assists other trades as required.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Experience Operating forklifts, tractors and power equipment
10 years of experience as an electrician.
10 years of experience working with PLC industrial control system to the I/O level.
Associates degree or higher in Electrical Systems, electronics or Electrical Engineering.
Required License or Certification
Valid Drivers License required within 60 days.
NC Electrical License,
Forklift and MEWP Certificate within 30 days,
OSHA 30 Card
Valid NC Driver's License required?
