Overview
The Process Engineering Manager performs a variety of activities in support of manufacturing operations including process development, manufacturability engineering, and process improvement. This is a working manager role with responsibilities for both engineering activities and management oversight of the Process Engineering Group.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates, participates, and is responsible for:
- Development, maintenance, improvement, and optimization of robust, repeatable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
- Ensuring the quality and reliability of the product being manufactured by establishing robust and manufacturable processes.
- Routinely provides engineering expertise on assigned processes.
- Resolves processing issues, implements corrective actions.
- Assists with qualification plan creation and submittal to TRB.
- Development and maintenance of documentation including specifications, procedures, forms, and training material.
- Using solid engineering methodologies and a data-driven approach to process development and problem solving.
- Engineering skills including statistical process control (SPC), experiment design and planning, data collection, data analysis, report development, and presentation as needed.
- Drives the definition, execution, support, and implementation of continuous improvement activities both as self-contained group activities and in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement Team.
- Investigates and recommends equipment purchases, upgrades, or replacements as needed.
- Support product analysis, root cause investigations.
- Works effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ensures the efficient, on time and successful execution of process and equipment qualifications and drives the team to completion.
- Communicates effectively with peers, customers, and management in verbal, written, and presentation forms.
- Participates on product development and continuous improvement teams and completes assignments in a timely manner.
- Works with customers as needed to answer questions or resolve process related issues.
- Schedules workload to meet development and/or product shipment schedules.
- Prepare capital acquisition justifications as needed including cost of ownership and ROI calculations. Order equipment supplies as needed.
- Supervises the activities of engineers and technicians in the Process Engineering group including defining responsibilities, providing work direction, defining goals and objectives, performance reviews, and performance management.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or Physics from an accredited four year college or university.
- Minimum 5+ years of related technical experience.
- Experience in Process Engineering .
- Process and equipment qualification experience.
- 3+ years experience in people management.
- Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office products - Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point, Project.
- Strong data analysis skills using statistical tools including Excel and other data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, and others.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
Preferred:
- 8+years of related technical experience.
- 5+ years experience in people management.
- Semiconductor packaging related experience.
- Use of CAD tools and Mechanical and/or Modeling software may also be required for certain job functions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Salary Range: $ 132,126 - $ 178,759 annually (San Diego).
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well business results.
Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
