Salary range: $119,624 - $183,822

Responsibilities*
The Advanced Practice Professional will:
Provide health care to Neurosurgery patients, with primary emphasis on cranial, functional and secondary on spine.
Independently evaluate and manage new patients and return visits.
Provide care independently and through collaborative relationships with Neurosurgery Faculty through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations.
Act as a consultant for inpatient and outpatient staff and other Michigan Medicine providers.
Provide clinical leadership in practice setting, including staff development (student, physician and staff education).
Participate in ongoing quality improvement and research initiatives, which include assisting with data collection for research purposes.
Manage operative cases from point of treatment discussion case to preoperative assessment/clearance, obtaining signed informed consent for all procedures, pre-operative teaching, and postoperative care.
Be available to see urgent patients that may require a same day office visit.
Independently perform minor procedures, including device programming, in the clinic setting and OR assist for frame placements when residents are not available.
Evaluate, screen, and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources.
Communicate with patients through various means, including phone/video visits/in person visits, portal messaging. Communicate with primary care and referring physicians and participate in the continuum of care.
Manage Michart inbasket work includes managing phone calls from patients, prescription refills, review radiographic results and labs for abnormalities and respond accordingly responding to portal messages from patients .
Work collaboratively with other APPs in the department which includes covering for colleagues when needed.
Review and update outpatient patient education annually.
Co-lead Support Groups as requested by department
Participate in department based, patient centered meetings.
Participate in outreach programs for assigned program.
Participate in outpatient committees.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
