Job Description

- Duration: Assignments typically run for approximately 3-6 Months.
- Compensation and Benefits: $24.67 - $25.77/Hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, but can vary.
- Location: Assignment locations include the UCSD Health Sciences campus, UCSD Medical Center - Hillcrest & Thornton Hospital, and a variety of UCSD satellite locations.
TES is searching for applicants possessing patient support and/ or medical administrative skills. Responsibilities may include: coordinate new patient appointments; process scheduling requests that come via mail, e-mail, fax and telephone; obtaining all past and present medical history for all new patients; coordinating billing functions in accordance to various contract policies/procedures (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, GHPP, CCS); Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSBroad range of knowledge in ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, and RVS coding and pricing, and fee schedule principles.
Knowledge in self-pay collections, third party carrier billing guidelines, commercial insurance/contracts, HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, CHAMPUS-TRICARE, CMS, GHPP, and CCS billing
Experience and knowledge of using billing software and electronic health record systems
Advanced knowledge of patient scheduling.
Knowledge of Insurance verification and authorization.
Previous directly related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
Medical terminology.
Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
A background check is required.A medical screening may be required.
This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $33,900 - $72,996 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $16.24 - $34.96
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
