Job Summary

Academic instructor to meet the varied instructional needs of the Fort Stockton WRTTC branch campus, with ability to instruct in multiple academic and/or technical areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in one of the following academic instructional areas: Economics, English, Government, or History
  • Understanding of how internet based instructional software and computer technology works
  • Ability to plan, organize, and instruct in quality educational programs
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree and 18 graduate hours in one of the following secondary academic instructional areas: Economics, English, Government, or History
  • Experience teaching community college level courses
  • Experience in dual credit instruction

Essential Functions

  • Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids
  • Teach using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes
  • Lead and monitor classroom instruction
  • Participate in co-curricular activities such as campus committees
  • Serve as academic advisor to students and be available to faculty and students for consultation
  • Foster education for service by contributing professionally to governance outside the classroom for the WRTTC and community at large
  • Plan learning activities and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles
  • Assist with maintaining a classroom/laboratory/shop environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security
  • Use course text, outlines, syllabi, and other curriculum materials in accordance with college and department guidelines
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with Academic Deans
  • Participate in televised distance learning, dual credit, and internet based curriculum development and instruction, when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with students; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move/drive from office to other locations on and off campus
  • Office and classroom setting

Security Sensitivity

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary

$55,045 per year

Max Salary

$67,275 per year

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
