This is an eleven-month faculty position that requires expertise in teaching nursing fundamentals including theory and skills to practical nursing students.  Faculty are licensed RNs and professional educators whose primary responsibility is to educate students in practical nursing as they strive to become professionals.  Faculty act as role models to students and the college community.  Efforts to improve instruction, student relationships and student retention are expected.  Faculty at CSI are expected to always be prepared for class, enthusiastic, and committed to the ideal that all students can and will learn given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate and equitable.

 

 CSI Qualifications

All full-time academic instructional staff members should hold a master's degree in the field in which they teach or a bachelor's degree in the field in which they teach and documented experience in that discipline, which may be deemed equivalent to a master's degree by the selection committee in that discipline and/or by the administration.

 

 PN Program Qualifications

 

  • A current unencumbered Idaho RN license.
  • Minimum educational level of BSN.
  • Three years of experience as an RN
  • Obtain and maintain CTE certification teaching requirements.
  • Emotional and physical health to enable full participation in the classroom and clinical/lab areas.
  • Evidence of achieving positive student relationships.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Willingness to communicate effectively.

 

 Responsibilities

 

  • Adhere to policies and procedures required of CSI faculty.
  • Instructional duties may include theory, lab, simulation, and clinical.
  • Create course materials and deliver instruction based on best practices in nursing education.
  • Teach in multiple pedagogical techniques (e.g. online, hybrid, face-to-face).
  • Evaluate student performance using varied evaluation methods and maintain accurate and confidential student.
  •  Remediate students as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty to maintain quality of program and meet State Board of Nursing approval.
  • Adhere to PN Program policies.
  • Participate in annual self-evaluation and Program/Handbook Review.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  •  Participate in ongoing program assessment.
  • Maintain professional and collegial relationships within the College and health care communities. 
  • Adhere to the Idaho Board of Nursing Rules.
  • Comply with all Idaho Career Technical Education (CTE) policies and procedures, including obtaining and maintaining Idaho CTE teacher certification.
  • Maintain current RN licensure requirements.
