The Opportunity

We are recruiting a part-time Coordinator for Student Activities who will support students in a nurturing, holistic, and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development this position will develop in-person engagement opportunities, learn and use C-GCC online platforms, and manage various office processes to coordinate, facilitate, and support student engagement opportunities at Columbia-Greene Community College.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Event management – organization, coordination, implementation and assessment of all student-related activities and functions hosted by the office.
  • Assist in supervision of student workers and assign their daily tasks.
  • Assist campus clubs & organizations, as needed.
  • Assist in all phases of campus-wide event planning, as necessary.
  • Management of Student Lounge and Student Activities Office spaces
  • Administrative tasks to support the Student Activities office.
  • Serve on college-wide committees, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the coordination of the annual commencement ceremony.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities & Leadership Development and the Dean of Student Affairs.

Specialized Skills

  • Ability to multitask with day-to-day changes in priorities.
  • Handle and complete several ongoing projects and activities in a work environment characterized by frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 to create and analyze reports, manage data, resource materials and presentations.
  • Ability to learn and use various new technology platforms.
  • Conduct presentations on programmatic co-curricular activities.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, ideal hours are Monday to Thursday, midday.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree and two years related full-time work experience or an equivalent combination of related education and relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of event management, including coordination and implementation.
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal skills required to build and maintain cooperative working relationships among diverse individuals and groups.

Salary and Benefit Information

The hourly rate is $17.40, approximately 20 hours per week. Some benefits include NYS Retirement, supplemental retirement and life insurance options and employee tuition waiver. PSLF also available for those who qualify.
