Job Description Summary

SF Achieve Specialists promote a college-going culture in Alachua and Bradford Counties through interventions in schools and the community. The SF Achieve Specialist builds relationship with students and their families through small groups and individual coaching, focused on the goals of the SF Achieve program. This position is located in Bradford County.

 

Job Description

This position is funded by either a grant or another donor-funded source external to the college. Should the funding provided by these special sources be reduced or eliminated, employees will be given as much notice as possible.

 

This position is being filled in an interim capacity for the current fiscal year and is eligible for reappointment provided continued funding and incumbent success. For all the information regarding interim appointments and the terms that govern them, please refer to College Rule 3.9 and 3.9P.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborates with the Recruitment and SF Achieve team to plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of the SF Achieve program at assigned high schools.
  • Meets regularly with future SF Achieve Scholars and their families one-on-one to assist them in adjusting their mindset and that of the greater community with regards to the value of attending college
  • Develops and implements engagement programs in high schools and in the community, ranging from small group discussions to large-scale awareness events.
  • Engages with future SF Achieve Scholars through the Canvas-based SF Achieve courses and tracks their completion of key modules. 
  • Engages with future SF Achieve Scholars via social media and other digital means.
  • Implements Signing Says at assigned schools to celebrate SF Achieve Scholars and have them sign the SF Achieve Commitment as the final step before being awarded the SF Achieve Scholarship
  • Mentors and advises future SF Achieve Scholars on the college application process through their initial enrollment.
  • Updates and maintains a digital database of future SF Achieve Scholars’ contact information and their status in the SF Achieve program through initial registration.
  • Participates in a warm hand-off to connect SF Achieve Scholars with their academic success coach after initial registration.
  • Assists in the implementation of large on-campus SF recruitment events including New Student Convocation, College Night, and Open House.
  • Attends monthly meetings with the SF Achieve Implementation Team, which includes liaisons from each high school (1-2 hours per month).
  • Actively participate in college-related committees and provides service to the College as required.
  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality. 
  • Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures. 
  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Recruitment and SF Achieve

 

Qualifications:

Required:  A bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or a combination of education and experience equal to four (4) years.  
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted. Applicants must have a valid Florida Class E Operator (driver’s) license and be authorized to drive for the college.
Preferred:  Prior experience working in higher education.

  • Results Orientation – proven ability to set and exceed established targets.
  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
