POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the organization, including general HR administrative support, recruitment and onboarding, and staff engagement activities.

SALARY: Starts at $14 per hour

ADDITIONAL: $35 monthly phone stipend

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Manages part-time recruitment, including but not limited to posting, screening, background, and reference checks; I9 verification; minor labor reporting as applicable; and onboarding process of staff. Serves as point person for all new employee inquiries. Assists Director of Human Resources with full-time recruitment and onboarding.

2.Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, employment status and changes, and performance evaluations. Reviews, verifies with managers, and processes part-time employee wage changes.

3.Conducts New Employee Orientation to newly hired employees; assigns necessary trainings; updates staff membership and creates CPR courses & schedules. Verifies CPR rooster for staff certifications.

4.Addresses employee concerns. Provides staff guidance to HR policies and procedures, including staff handbooks.

5.Leads and manages staff engagement events, manages Y Sunshine Fund, and participates in Wellness Committee. Schedules meetings and events, makes room reservations, and orders food and supplies.

6.Participates in management meetings and special projects.

7.Assists the Director of Human Resources with understanding retention, turnover and employee satisfaction through data analysis and feedback received from team members.

8.Orders and maintains office supplies, staff shirts, and CPR equipment and supplies.

9.Prepares and sends monthly Y staff newsletter.

10.Serves as a back-up to the Director of Human Resources in basic HR functions, as needed.

11.Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follows procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.

12.Adheres to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications.

13.Accepts additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Business or Human Resources preferred.
2.2 or more years of experience. Experience in a HR role is preferred.
3.Exceptional people management skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
4.Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting.
5.Ability to be a team player and collaborate with multiple levels of the organization.
6.Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently required.
7.Must be flexible to adjust working hours to come in earlier or stay later than normal when needed.
8.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
9.Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

1.Physical ability and stamina to perform the duties as outlined above, including but not limited to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 30 pounds.

2.Extended periods of time working at PC and/or laptop, often with repetitive keyboarding movement.

3.Outside building travel required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour
