For more than 20 years, WBI has served as the Partnership Intermediary for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at WPAFB. Our focus is on advancing research and technology development through cooperative initiatives with academia, small businesses, and industry, transferring federally funded research and technologies to the commercial marketplace, and facilitating the transition of vital technologies back to the federal government to address national security capability needs.

Founded in 2002, WBI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered and headquartered in Riverside Ohio. WBI was founded to support knowledge development in aerospace science, technology, engineering, and design integration for air, space, and cyberspace applications.

We are currently looking for a President to lead the continued growth and development of the Institute in alignment with customer, partner, and Board of Trustee objectives. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to perform the following essential functions:

· Set the strategy and direction of the Institute.

· Model and sets the Institute’s culture, values, and behavior.

· Build and lead the senior executive team.

· Promotes a climate that attracts, motivates, and retains a highly skilled and diverse staff.

· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, including but not limited to local and state government agencies, universities, and the USAF/DoD and ensures that the Institute is meeting their expectations.

· Lead the development of services and programs that meet the needs of the Air Force Research Laboratory and other clients.

· Ensure the effective execution and evaluation of the Institute’s programs and services.

· Ensure the fiscal health of the Institute by tracking revenue and expenditures, ensuring that programs perform to budget and ensuring compliance with accounting and government standards.

· Maintain a high ethical standard and ensures compliance with all regulations.

· Keep the Board fully informed of the general health of the Institute and all-important factors influencing it.

Ideally, you are looking for your next long-term challenge and have these skills.

1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline. A master’s degree in science, engineering, or business is highly desirable.

2. Minimum 10 years of experience of progressive relevant experience in supporting Technology Transfer/Transition (T3), small businesses, Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and demonstrated experience in the following areas:

a. Leadership and supervision of employees

b. Developing partnerships and trusted relationships with key stakeholders

c. Expert knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as an understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.

d. Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, and risk management.

e. Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners like IT, finance, human resources, legal, etc.

f. Well-connected with relationships of key stakeholders in the Department of Defense, other government agencies, state and regional communities, and colleges/universities.

g. Participation and leadership in technology development programs, from technology/product conception through commercialization.

3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Must be eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.

This job operates in a professional office environment and is on-site. Travel is required regionally and within Ohio.
