Dr. Aymeric Goyer is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on an interdisciplinary project funded by the NASA Space Biology Program. The successful applicant will characterize the responses of potato plants to exposure to lunar regolith simulants at the growth, developmental, physiological and molecular/biochemical levels.
Applicants should be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Applicants should have effective communication skills, and be able to publish their research in scientific journals publications, and to present their research at scientific meetings.
A start date as soon as April 1, 2024 is anticipated, but start date is negotiable. The position is funded for 1 year with a possible extension based on performance and continuing funding.
Stipend and benefits conform with postdoctoral scholar standards at OSU (http://gradschool.oregonstate.edu/postdocs).
Position Duties
80% Research:
· Designing, implementing, and conducting research activities in the lab and in greenhouse.
· Processing, analyzing, interpreting and reporting on findings.
· Publish research results as lead or co-author in peer-reviewed journals.
· Present results to peers at scientific meetings.
15% Professional development
Create an individual development plan to establish career and project-based research goals and track progress towards achieving stated goals. The plan may include activities to gain competency in research skills, communication skills, and leadership.
5% Lab management
· Manage lab inventory, place orders for lab reagents.
· Plan, assign, and approve daily duties for undergraduate research assistants.
Minimum Required Qualifications
· Ph.D. in the biological sciences related to plant biology, plant physiology, crop and horticultural sciences or a closely related field of study.
· Demonstrated experience with plant growth.
· Demonstrated experience in molecular biology and analytical biochemistry.
· Demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarly activity through refereed journals and presentations at scientific meetings.
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work within a team structure.
· Ability to work independently in diverse environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with potato development and physiology.
· Experience with soil science.
· Experience with statistics.
· A demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
